"Beside the house, the cherry’s flowering"
This year started a creative research project “Beside the house, the cherry’s flowering” proposed by Literary Studio “By alleys of eternal garden” of Research Library of Uman NUH and by Coordination Council “Bahattya” of Uman secondary school № 11, which is dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of outstanding genius of Ukrainian people Taras Shevchenko.
The purpose of the project – to explore the creative heritage of T.H. Shevchenko, involving pupils and students to the study of Cherkasy region ethnography, the formation of cultural, literary competence and ecological culture, promotion of creativity, creative initiative, active public position, creating conditions for self-realization, the organization of leisure, cooperation of the University and school.
The project includes a lot of creative groups with regard to the interests and abilities of the participants. In April, 2013 was conducted an exhibition of pictures, illustrations for the works of Shevchenko, photo contest “Garden of my grandmother” continues, a collection of ancient and modern recipes with cherries “Uman cherry” is preparing, will be conducted the contests of reciters and a contest of own works “Wreath to Kobzar”.
In October a philatelic exhibition is planning “Cherkashchyna - the native land of Shevchenko”, and in December - competition of video-presentations “Mother’s cherry in the garden”.
The project organizers invite everyone to participate actively in the proposed competitions. Personal exhibitions under the title “Beside the house, the cherry’s flowering” will be held from September, 2013 to March, 2014 in the school № 11 and on the subscription of fiction of Science Library of Uman NUH.
How long will remember the future university students-pupils of school № 11 and participants of Literature Studio as they simmered cherry jam from ripened berries in the school garden.
A large-scale event of project was the planting of young cherry orchard near the school № 11. On the large break in front of the school, graduates of junior and senior classes form a platoon gently holding in hands small cherry trees.
Director of the school Volodymyr Sokyrskyy, starting the lineup said that everyone should love their native land, hometown, should decorate it with gardens, explore and preserve the traditions of the Ukrainian nation.
Uman National University of Horticulture on the festival was represented by Oleksandr Burlyay – Candidate of Economics, Head of Research Department; members of the Scientific Library of Uman NUH Olena Rudkovska and Nataliya Mykhaylova, co-author of the project “Beside the house, the cherry’s flowering”, photographer of press-center of the University Valeriy Makarov.
On behalf of the scientific-pedagogical workers and students of the University, greeted the participants of the event A. Burlyay, who expressed hope for further fruitful cooperation, emphasized that the school can be proud of its graduates who have studied and are studying now at our university. Oleksandr Leonidovych even offered to make as a symbol of our town glorified in the songs and legends, flowering cherry. Also he invited prospective students on the Open Day which will be held in Uman NUH on the 2nd of November and noticed that in laying of the university’ cherry orchard will participate students of the school № 11.
The lineup ended with poetry of Taras Shevchenko. Under the sound of march, pupils, teachers and guests went to the future garden.
Everyone worked hard, consistently, with belief that in the spring the trees will blossom with the first flowers, and then the new generations of pupils, inhabitants of nearby houses, kindergarten' pupils, who are close to it, will admire the blooming garden.
