Holiday of Grain Growers-Agrarians

November 13th, collective of Uman National University of Horticulture celebrated their professional holiday - Day of Agriculture Workers. Honoring of this date – is a recognition by the state of victorious agricultural work for the benefit of Ukraine, it is praise to calloused hands of farmers who know the true value of grown spikelets of bread.

Reading Room of Research Library was filled with staff and guests who participated in scientific readings on the occasion of Day of Agricultural Workers.

The event was opened by the First Vice Rector of the University Ivan Mostov'yak, who welcomed everyone on the occasion and invited Rector, Doctor of Economics, Professor Olena Nepochatenko to the welcome speech.

Olena Oleksandrivna warmly greeted everyone on the Day of Agricultural Workers and noted that agricultural sector is the basic one, because it is the foundation of the state. The university is moving forward each year, embodying achievements in educational and scientific process, and its alumni multiply the glory of the institution. Rector honored the best workers and scientists who have made a substantial contribution to the development of educational and scientific field. Separately Olena Oleksandrivna thanked students who make their contribution to agricultural yield. At the end the rector wished everyone who belongs to the agricultural family happiness, health, good wealth and on the occasion presented diplomas to the best staff and students of the University.

With congratulations joined the Head of Uman District Council of trade union of workers of agroindustrial complex Varvara Kharkava who awarded the best employees of trade union of Uman NUH with diplomas and valuable gifts. In turn, dear guest was also awarded with an honorary diploma of Uman NUH for the cooperation and on the occasion of Day of Agricultural Workers.

Continued the work of solemn assembly - scientific reports, who prepared Candidate of Historical Sciences, Professor of Social-Humanitarian and Legal Disciplines Valentyn Domoroslyy on the theme “The traditions of celebrating the Day of Agricultural Workers in Uman National University of Horticulture” and  Candidate of Historical Sciences, Senior Lecturer in Social-Humanitarian and Legal Disciplines Olha Harbar on the theme “From the pupil of Uman School of Agriculture and Horticulture to the scientist of world renown”.

From interesting and meaningful report of Valentyn Domoroslyy, everyone learned about the history of the holiday, starting from the ancient Greece to modern times. No less profound, in her study, was the report of Olga Petrivna, who in her studies of life and scientific way of Professor, Head of Department of General Agriculture Symon Samiylovych Rubin told the audience about the importance of scientific papers of scientist-innovator in the field of horticulture, which received high valuation in the world.

Docent of the Department of Genetics, Plant Breeding and Biotechnology Viktor Syhyda shared memories about Simon Rubin with participants of readings.

In the end of the event, First Vice Rector Ivan Mostov'yak wished everyone who involved in the celebration of the Day of Agricultural Work family comfort, prosperity and good health for the benefit of flowering of native Ukraine.
