Ukrainian-Polish horticultural seminar
February 17-24, Chair of Fruit-growing and Viticulture (Head of the Chair Professor O.V.Melnyk) with the support of state administration of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Polish firm «Agrofresh» conducted scientific production seminar, visiting the best horticultural households of Ukraine and Poland. This project was launched by the Chair of Fruit-growing and Viticulture and the editorial staff of the magazine ”Novyny Sadivnytstva ”(Gardening News) 15 years ago and is in the top 25 university programs in the rating of the company "SCM" and the magazine "Focus".
Managers and main specialists of horticultural households of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea ("Crimean Fruit Company"), Zaporizhzhya Region ("Melitopolska chereshnya"), Kiev Region (private enterprise “Merezhenyuk”), Kharkiv Region (LLC "Vira") and Cherkassy Region were among the participants.
According to the program the participants visited modern fruit orchards of the famous in Ukraine agrofirm "Zorya" in Rivne Region, Polish specialized horticultural household «Lipnicki» and gardening cooperative «Stryjno Sad» near Lublin, «Gabrysiak» and «Pagacz» in central Poland. They also went to fruit nurseries «ARNO», «Dolinski» and biological laboratory «Kusibab», where they saw high quality planting material, as well as visited gardening cooperative «Agrosimex» and factory «MCMS».
The main aim of trip to Poland was to visit the international exhibition "Horticulture and vegetable growing» (Targi sadownictwa i warzywnictwa) and to attend the conference under the same name in Warsaw, as well as to participate in the conference on agricultural technology of growing stone fruit and berries in Krasnik. The constituent part of the program was the study of modern technologies of fruit storage and logistics, provided by the leading households «Lipnicki» and «Gabrysiak» and gardening cooperative «Stryjno Sad».
