Uman NUH celebrated the Day of Ukrainian literature and language
November 9, in the day of commemoration of Saint Nestor the Chronicler, in Ukraine according to issued in November, 1997 Decree of President of Ukraine is celebrated the Day of Ukrainian literature and language.
To this date was devoted the educational event “Autumn kaleidoscope – in the world of poetry. The greatest treasure, that you have - mother tongue”, held at the initiative of the lecturers of the Department of Ukrainian and Foreign Languages , including Senior Lecturer Lyudmyla Movchan and student government council of the Faculty of Economics and Enterpreneurship of Uman National University of Horticulture.
Narrators of the event Oleksandr Kyrylenko and Anna Kryvorot by their stories dipped everyone in ancient times , when appeared first writing, because the history of writing is complex and still is not cognized for certain, but the Ukrainian people have millennial written language.
With interest, participants viewed slides about the first types of writing - Cyrillic and Glagolitic, the first printed book “The Apostle” printed by Ivan Fedorov; listened about the historical origin of Cyril and Methodius and the monk Nestor the Chronicler, author of “The Tale of Bygone Years”, who recreated the event of a whole millennium and preserved history for Ukraine.
Young people got acquainted with the history of Ukrainian language: from the “Aeneid” by Kotlyarevskyy written by living spoken language, till the development of the Ukrainian language.
It was nice to hear the poetry of students of the
Department of Economics and Enterpreneurship, dedicated to native language,
homeland, the land where they were born. These poems were a real gem of the
evening. The atmosphere of the event was
reinforced by ukrainian song performed by the first-year student Tetyana Shcherban’.
The performance ended with the words of Dean of Faculty of Economics and
Enterpreneurship Yuliya Nesterchuk, who thanked the organizers of the event,
expressed her admiration by poems of students and wished them to disclose in
poetry. Yuliya Oleksandrivna underlined the importance of such events because
they bring up a deep sense of love to the language of native land, they teach
to speak Ukrainian literary language and to be patriots.
