Let us remember those years ...

October 28, Uman National University of Horticulture celebrated a Big day for the Ukrainian nation - Day of Liberation of Ukraine from fascist invaders. Organizers of the events was  Student Government Council.

In the fourth building of the University slide a presentation of photographs of Ukraine’s liberation period took place. Pictures helped everyone to feel the unconquerable desire and commitment to defeat enemies in order to provide for new generation a dignified life. It is not surprising that every student was imbued with the spirit of patriotism because everyone is a part of the heroic and mighty nation.

On the central square sounded the songs of the war years and started the  action  “Letters, scorched by war”. “Soldiers’ Triangles” were handed out to students and teachers   - the living histories of the war. During those difficult times, parents accompanied to the war their sons and daughters, children - their parents, wives – their husbands. And then they were waiting for tidings from each other. They were waiting for them with sinking heart. Will they bring joyful or terrible news?

Letters from the war excite to the depths of soul. Everyone who has read them, was touched by soldiers tender love on the paper to their families, country. Some of them were written before the death of people who fell into fascist captivity, others were written by soldiers in the flames of battle, and others – by the guerrillas in the enemy’s rear. Pain fills the soul for these wonderful young people who have lived so little. They wanted so much to live. At the same time, we feel proud of our countrymen. They were the real heroes. Their feat will remain in the ages.

We will never forget the heroic pages of our history and the terrible price that our older generation paid for our right to life.
