Meeting with the author of a book for self improvement
It is difficult to overestimate the importance of the event that took place in Uman National University of Horticulture on November 4. The meeting with the first year students of the Faculties of Agronomy and Horticulture, Environment and Plant Protection visited a man-legend, a man-symbol of unruliness of Ukrainian nation in the desire for freedom and independence - Yevhen Sverstyuk.
Organized by the Department of Social and Humanitarian, Legal Disciplines and Research Library of Uman NUH on the initiative of Professor Pavlo Yamchuk, meeting with Yevhen Sverstyuk was held within the frames of presentation of his new book “Gogol and Ukrainian night”. The book contains 28 essays written for almost 40 years. They are saturated with novelty due to the author's references to the researchers of Gogol’s art and philosophers whose works were extracted from the scientific use in the Soviet times.
Researcher and expert on the life and work of a giant of world literature in his speech showed the audience another Gogol: Gogol with Ukrainian heart, Gogol who appeared in our memory not only as a consummate writer of entertaining stories of “Sorochyntsi Fair”.
“By and large, - said in his speech Evhen Oleksandrovych - this book is not for reading, it’s for self improvement”. Indeed, by the confession of the author, Gogol was for him a person, who contributed to his internal development, thanks to whom he has lived through considerable ascension and didn’t break down in times of severe physical and moral trials.
Unforgettable meeting ended with interesting communication of esteemed guest with lecturers of the Social and Humanitarian, Legal Disciplines. We hope that such meetings are waiting for our team in the future.
